CEO Opportunity Report
See your business from outside the day-to-day.
A structured, human-reviewed strategic baseline built from what you tell us, the information you choose to provide, and research around your business.
The CEO Opportunity Report is designed to help identify the priorities, opportunities, questions and dependencies that deserve executive attention — before you decide whether you need any further support.
Get Your CEO Opportunity ReportNo generic chatbot. No hour-long discovery form. We use what you tell us and do the research around it.

Before you buy anything, see what we see.
Most advisory relationships begin with a sales conversation. We would rather begin with the business.
The CEO Opportunity Report gives us a structured starting point and gives you something useful in return. You provide the context only you can know. We research the surrounding business environment, review the evidence, analyse the company through several executive lenses and bring the material findings together into one concise report.
The purpose is not to produce a long list of generic recommendations. It is to identify what appears important, what is working, what may require validation, and where there may be credible opportunity.
You remain the decision-maker. The report is designed to improve visibility and support judgement — not substitute for it.
What goes into the report
The report combines three types of information so that it is not based on one perspective alone.
What you tell us
You complete a short strategic intake covering the company, your priorities and the issues currently competing for your attention. This can include:
- the business and its current stage
- your role and immediate priorities
- growth and commercial objectives
- major constraints and dependencies
- what is working well
- what concerns you
- where your own time is being consumed
- what success looks like over the next 90 days and 12 months
Public company research
Once the company is identified, we research the surrounding public context. Depending on what is available and relevant, this may include:
- your website, products and services
- positioning and customer journey
- leadership and business stage
- market and competitor context
- recent developments and growth signals
- partnerships and expansion activity
- public trust and proof signals
- other material information that helps us understand the business in context
We prioritise the company's own information and reliable public sources. We do not fill gaps by inventing facts.
Supporting material you choose to provide
You may also upload relevant company material such as a pitch or investor deck, company overview, business plan, financial summary, sales summary or organisation chart.
This is optional, but where useful it can materially improve the depth of the report.
What we look across
A CEO rarely has the luxury of looking at one issue in isolation. The report therefore assesses the business through several connected lenses, using only those that are relevant to the company.
- Strategy and business model
- Sales, growth and commercial engine
- Market and competitive position
- Leadership, capability and CEO bandwidth
- Operations, execution and dependencies
- Capital and commercial readiness where relevant
- Digital, brand, trust and customer journey
- Opportunities and underdeveloped upside
The value is in the connections between them. A growth problem may actually be a positioning problem. A capital problem may be an execution problem. A CEO bandwidth problem may be hiding several other constraints.
The report is designed to surface those connections.
What you receive
The CEO Opportunity Report is a concise executive baseline, normally presented as a secure web report and PDF.
Depending on the business and the available evidence, the report can include:
- Executive snapshot
- What we understand about the business
- Your stated CEO priorities
- Material strategic and commercial observations
- Strengths worth protecting
- Areas requiring executive attention or validation
- Questions that deserve pressure-testing
- Opportunity map
- 0–30 day priorities
- 31–90 day priorities
- Longer-term opportunities
- Recommended next engagement where there is a fit
- Methodology and material sources
The report is intended to be useful as a standalone strategic baseline. You do not need to become a client in order for the exercise to have value.
Get Your CEO Opportunity ReportEvidence matters.
A confident-looking answer is not the same thing as a reliable answer.
Material findings in the report are assessed according to the strength of the underlying evidence. Where appropriate, we distinguish between:
- Confirmed
- information established or confirmed
- Observed
- something directly visible in a reliable source
- Inferred
- a reasonable interpretation, but not an established fact
- Opportunity
- a potential avenue worth evaluating
- Question
- something that requires validation
- Contradicted
- where credible sources do not agree
- Insufficient data
- where there is not enough evidence to support a useful conclusion
If two sources conflict, the system is designed to preserve the conflict rather than silently choose whichever answer is more convenient.
If the evidence does not support a conclusion, the report should say so.
Human-reviewed before release.
Technology allows us to do more research and preparation without consuming more of the CEO's time. It does not remove human accountability.
At launch, every CEO Opportunity Report goes through an internal human QA review before it is released.
The reviewer checks that:
- the correct company and person have been assessed
- material facts are supported
- your own statements are represented accurately
- contradictions are contextualised rather than hidden
- calculations are correct
- the language does not overclaim what the evidence supports
- the report remains decision support rather than decision substitution
- any recommended next step is proportionate to the need identified
If something material is unclear, we may contact you for a short clarification. A free strategy call is not required in order to receive the report.
Not a generic AI report.
The CEO Opportunity Report is not designed as a chatbot response dressed up as a PDF.
The analysis is built from structured intake information, public research, supporting documents where provided, evidence checks and multiple business lenses before being synthesised into the final report.
We deliberately avoid:
- invented facts or fake precision
- generic motivational advice
- unsupported ROI claims or predictions
- turning company claims into independently verified facts without evidence
- hiding conflicting information
- telling the CEO what decision to make
The goal is a useful outside view — not artificial certainty.

You read it first.
If the report identifies a strong case for deeper support, it may recommend a CEO Strategic Blueprint + Implementation Plan together with one level of ongoing support that appears appropriate to the business.
The recommendation is based on the need identified, the level of support required and whether the relationship appears commercially proportionate — not simply on company size.
You will be able to see what has been recommended and why before deciding whether you want to proceed.
There is no requirement to book a free strategy call in order to unlock the recommendation.
If you continue with us
The CEO Opportunity Report becomes the first strategic baseline for the relationship.
The next stage, the CEO Strategic Blueprint + Implementation Plan, goes deeper and converts the initial findings into an ordered plan with priorities, ownership, timing and first actions.
The context built through the report also means that an ongoing An Extra Chair relationship begins with a much stronger understanding of the business. You should not have to start again by explaining the company from zero.
Your judgement stays in the chair.
An Extra Chair can research, challenge, prepare, structure, prioritise and identify opportunities.
It can help improve the quality of the information around an important decision.
It does not replace the CEO or leadership team, and it does not make management decisions on your behalf.
The objective is to give you a stronger decision environment — with another senior perspective available when it matters.
Confidentiality and how we handle information.
We aim to collect and use only information reasonably required for the relevant purpose. Detailed confidential strategic answers should not be copied into third-party systems that only require summary commercial fields. Client-supplied confidential material is handled separately from public research where practical and subject to applicable confidentiality obligations.
We use administrative, technical and organisational measures designed to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. These measures may include access controls, least-privilege permissions, encryption in transit and provider encryption at rest, authentication controls, audit logging, secure tokens and restricted API credentials. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Public-company research workflows should receive only the information reasonably required to identify and research the relevant company, rather than confidential strategic free text merely because it exists elsewhere in our systems.
